Munde draws on the music, language and traditions of European culture as a source of inspiration.
Each design is individually hand sketched resulting in an array of spontaneous patterns that unite old world charm with modern chic.
Berny Bacic is the founder and designer behind the Sydney-based design house ‘Munde’, which she launched in late 2008.
Berny was born in Sydney Australia, to Croatian parents who lived in Germany and migrated to Australia in the late 1960’s.
Much of her influence comes from her grandmother, a dressmaker herself who loved all things folkloric, crocheted and embroidered.
As a result, Berny's design style is a wonderful combination of old and new.
Munde explores the world of traditional folkloric motifs, intricate florals and abstract patterns, and uses bold, contemporary colours and vibrant tones.
Berny's creations begin as hand drawn sketches and through experimentation, manipulation and chance, the result is often far removed from what was originally imagined.
With design combining passion, personality and intrigue, Berny hopes that Munde products bring life, warmth and transformation to any home or commercial interior space.
The vision is for Munde to grow further both in Australia and overseas.
Berny continually strives to create quality and universal design that complements a wide range of environments.
Importantly, her aim is to maintain a strong design identity with a simple message: to nurture, enjoy and pass on one's heritage.
As Munde grows, the designs will be adapted to other printed forms such as various wall hangings, furnishing and clothing fabrics and various décor pieces.
