Di began her art career in Western Australia in 1967, in the field of commercial art.
Di avoided the temptation of doing the ‘Fine Arts thing’ in favour of developing her own unique form of artistic expression.
After 20 years in the commercial field, Di held her first solo exhibition during the America’s Cup finals in Perth, 1987.
The show was staged on the cruise ship Achille Lauro.
A move to Darwin in 1989 prompted her to begin teaching others how to paint.
During the eight years in Darwin Di expanded her art business to include art promotions, publishing and manufacture of a large product range bearing her images.
Di was awarded the 1995 Telstra Business Owner of the Year, NT.
Over the years Di has travelled extensively and has shown her art in many countries.
She is the only western artist ever to be invited to hold a solo exhibition in the exclusive Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The exhibition was a sellout.
In late 1997 Di and husband Graeme moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Here, Di’s focus is on teaching, painting and writing.
Di is an accomplished public speaker and talks on many topics to do with health and personal development through art.
Di Skelly Heron now exhibits exclusively in Qantas Club lounges, Australia wide.
