"I happen to be one of those people who believe that happiness and success don't just happen to someone - they happen when opportunity meets preparation.  Those who succeed do so because they are willing to invest in the groundwork and were prepared when the tide of good fortune rolled in.  All to often, many of us confuse effectiveness with efficiency.  Being effective is choosing the right goals from a set of alternatives and reaching them.  Efficiency, on the other hand, assumes the goals as given and proper and proceeds to find the best means of achieving them.  Efficiency is doing the job right, whereas effectiveness is doing the right job.  In a nutshell, effectiveness means results.  Both are valuable concepts, but to my mind, effectiveness is far more important. "

As a Designer I act as your consultant to ensure you get what you want and need. I'll help you examine your options, create a roadmap, manage the process or anything in between - purchasing, ordering, supervising contractors and overseeing budgets. I am trained to see the big picture and to help you balance your aspirations, functional needs and budget.

Working with a designer can save you money in many situations by allocating resources wisely, eliminating decorating mistakes, and increasing creative thinking about your project.

  • Prepare yourself
  • Decide on a budget
  • Collect colour swatches you like
  • Have pictures to illustrate what you like and what you don't like
  • Think about the furniture pieces you hope to keep
  • Set some of your goals concerning style preferences, budget and time frame
  • Listen to all ideas, but never go against your heart

I have different ways of working and various fee structures, whether a flat fee, hourly fee, or percentage of purchase, this will be established right from the beginning. Even if you don't want to spend a fortune, there are many ways to use a designer on a very tight budget.  Start small if you wish, using a designer for a short time on an hourly basis for a specific project. Researching and pricing out furniture, appliances, and/or electronic systems - the "big ticket items" that you definitely plan to purchase - will give you an idea of some of the costs involved.
